HEAVEN

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

I had one foot in HEAVEN this afternoon as I went visiting with my soon to be 91 year old friend. We visited 3 people who have serious health problems and are up in age. I know I'm not that far behind them and it gave me a glimpse of what's to come.

Personally I believe the trip to HEAVEN is going to be one sweeeeeeet ride.

TREASURES OF WISDOM

ON TALKING WITH GOD

All the powers of HEAVEN are at my disposal when

I labor in the service of His kingdom.

Hear my cry, O God;

listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth

I call to you,

I call as my heart grows faint;

lead me to the rock

that is higher than I.

Psalm 61:1-2

Grandpa's The Man

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Tonight we had the boneless pork chops Grandpa got for Father's day and they were delicious.

I thought Grandpa was ASKING for trouble when he broke open the bag of Buffalo Ranch popcorn. I had two kernels and they were hot stuff. Grandpa just about finished the bag. "He's the man".

We are hoping soon to have breakfast at Bob Evans. Grandpa has to get his drivers license renewed this year so today he went and got a hair cut. Looking good!!!!

Jess, that was so sweet to send Tori those encouraging words.

TREASURES OF WISDOM

ON TALKING WITH GOD.

Boldness in prayer comes when I am assured that

the spirit of ASKING and the thing I've asked for

are both according to the will of God.

Hear my cry, O God;

listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth

I call to you,

I call as my heart grows faint;

lead me to the rock

that is higher than I.

Disastrous Encounter

Sunday, June 27, 2010

A friend and classmate who lives in South Africa wrote to me today and I would like to share a portion of her email with you. She is a lady of COURAGE.

Had another, disastrous encounter with the local baboons today much to my dismay. Somehow one got in and I found it in the utility room eating my veggies etc, so I locked it in and called security. Took them a while to get here but finally got the darn thing out. What a horrendous mess it made: poop and orange juice everywhere, garbage broken open, drawers and oven door open, things eaten and two walls covered in blood! Still don't know how it got in but seems to be thru a tiny space in my barred window. This is very strange as it was huge and my cats are tiny. Sooooo, my Sunday layin became a scrubbing and disinfecting session, NOT what I had planned. We also dumped Arabic perfume on the baboon in the hope it will be driven out or killed by the rest of the troop. Believe me, there is an interesting smell in my house despite all the scrubbing.

The COURAGE to pray for someone is a sign

that you have faith that God is able.

Hear my cry, O God;

listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth

I call to you,

I call as my heart grows faint;

lead me to the rock

that is higher than I.

The Unexpected

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Nothing PREPARES you for the unexpected. This evening I was in the kitchen and Grandpa was in the living room watching TV when there was a knock at the door. We both yelled "come on in" and then another knock and we again yelled "come on in". We both thought it was our neighbor Dan and to our surprise it was a stranger wanting to ask Grandpa about his wood chipper that is for sale. When I went to the door the poor man's look was :{ I told him we are just friendly people and invite everyone in. He still had the :{ look on his face. Grandpa finally got up and came to the door and took over from there. I don't think Grandpa sold the chipper.

Prayer PREPARES my heart for receiving the

Word of God from God Himself.

Hear my cry, O God;

listen to my prayer.

Same old, Same old

Friday, June 25, 2010

We had our car serviced today and had new brakes on the front. It sure made a difference. Nice Ride!

Grandpa had a couple of Amish runs today and for MYSELF I did the same old, same old. Although I almost forgot to feed my friends kitties and when I got there they sure let me know about it. They were out of food. It's kind of funny when I have to put them back down in the basement one goes and the other one lays down and meows or hides. I litterly (get it litter) have to pick that one up and carry her to the stairs and she is one big kitty.

TREASURES OF WISDOM

ON TALKING WITH GOD

In prayer, I give MYSELF to God; in the

Word, God gives Himself to me.

Hear my cry, O God;

listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth

I call to you,

I call as my heart grows faint;

lead me to the rock

that is higher than I.

The Incident

Thursday, June 24, 2010

When you think you have your day planned it takes just one little incident to change your whole day.

The plan was for me to do breakfast dishes, laundry, feed my friend's kitties while she is on vacation, go to the pool, lunch, sew, supper, dishes, TV, and bed. Welllllllll, all was going as planned till I went to the pool and couldn't find my pass to get in. Came home check every place I could think of including my gym bag but no pass. Nobody would be at TLC till 2 o'clock for me to call. The WAITING game was on. Grandpa said " let's have lunch and go shopping in Ravenna" Somehow we ended up at the Tractor Supply store and I'm not at liberty to say what was purchased, but it was big, and then we went to Marc's for some sale items.

After we came home I called TLC and YES, YES, YES, they had my pass. Off to the pool I went and the rest of the day was pretty much what we had planned.

TREASURES OF WISDOM

ON TALKING WITH GOD

I want my spirit to be a listening spirit

WAITING to hear what God says.

Hear my cry, O God;

listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth

I call to you,

I call as my heart grows faint;

lead me to the rock

that is higher than I.

WHAT A CHANGE

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Unusual day. Went with my 91 year old friend to visit another 91 year old friend who broke her hip and is now in a nursing home for therapy. Came home, took a nap, and when I woke up ( WHAT A CHANGE) Grandpa told me there was an earthquake and we lost our power due to a storm that went through. Who would have thunk it. Fortunately we had some lunchmeat and cheese left from Sunday so we made some pretty good subway sandwiches right here at home. The power was out from 4:00 till after 7:00 PM.

TREASURES OF WISDOM

ON TALKING WITH GOD

WHAT A CHANGE it would make

if secret prayer were not only asking for

knowledge or strength, but the giving of my

life into the safekeeping of a faithful God.

and he will come near to you.

Swollen Eyes

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Grandpa's eyes are swollen again from allergies. If he doesn't wear his goggles when mowing it means itchy, swollen eyes for him. I'm just glad he doesn't have to get up and go to WORK in the morning.

Tori, I will be your guardian grandma on FB. :)

Gifts received for Father's Day

Monday, June 21, 2010

Tonight we had the delicious Beef tenderloin steaks that John and Deb gave to Dad. I remembered watching the food channel on how they prepared their steaks. I butterflyed the steaks, brushed them with olive oil, seasoned them and put them under the broiler about 4 minutes each side. They were outstanding if I have to say so myself.

We plan to have breakfast at Bob Evans in the next couple of weeks with the gift Tim and Kathy gave Dad. I hope we can arrange to have them join us that day.

Big surprise came today when the UPS truck pulled in our driveway. Dad received a package from Steve and Tracy and in it was all the goodies you could ever want, all kinds of different ready to eat seasoned popcorn, trail mix, pretzels and cookies. Dad said "thank you Steve and Tracy".

I lift my VOICE to say "thank you family" for making Dad and Grandpa a very special Father's Day. And you all are so thoughtful that I have been included in each and every gift. :)

TREASURES OF WISDOM

God is always waiting to hear my VOICE.

and he will come near to you.
