REMEMBER (Aaron) Steve's son

November 30, 2010
REMEMBER when Aaron was  little playing with his guys.  Welllllll! he is all grown up looking mighty good.  Check out Alyssa's facebook page and see for yourself.  I sent Aaron a message and he responded today saying he had to go to work after their meal.
The photo is of Aaron and his sister, Alyssa, on Thanksgiving 2010 at Alyssa and Bob's house.

OCCUPIES

Monday, November 29, 2010

Today was pretty much taken up by morning swim and afternoon perm.
I set a goal for myself by trying to write out 5 Christmas cards each day hoping to have them done by the middle of December.  I'm updating a new address book at the same time so it pretty well OCCUPIES a good hour of my time.  I'm looking forward to getting our Christmas decorations out and up.  It calls for snow on Wednesday and Thursday so that should put me in the mood. "Ho Ho Ho"

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Every Christian OCCUPIES some kind of pulpit and preaches some kind of sermon every day.

DONATION

Sunday,November 28, 2010

Cleaned out the refrig this afternoon to see how much leftovers we had.  Found another dish of turkey, pie, potatoes and many more things.  Grandpa and I opted for a pizza this afternoon and more pie tonight.
We have another funeral dinner at our church Tuesday so I might find a few more things to DONATE for the dinner.  As of now I'm DONATING ham and scalloped potatoes.  A little doctoring up and they will be good as new.

MORNING

Saturday, November 27, 2010

Grandpa let me sleep in this MORNING and I was shocked to see it was around 9 o'clock.  I haven't done that in a long time but I have to say it did feel pretty good.
I'm glad Grandpa likes leftovers because what I didn't freeze he will be eating for a few days.  I might have to double up on my swimming next week because we still have some pie left and I just can't throw that out or freeze it.  Yesterday MORNING our neighbor Dawn came over with a  pumpkin pie and a can of Reddi Whip.  We had a nice visit with her.  We don't have the donut days like we did so it was nice to catch up on what's going on in her life.
Well, It's time I head to the shower and maybe do a little quilting tonight.

BE STILL

Friday, November 26, 2010

Thanksgiving is all about families and giving thanks.  Our house was blessed today with John, Deb, Erica, Michael and Debbie's Mom, her two sisters and their families and I can't forget Red the cocker spaniel.
I have to say I was really impressed and thankful on how Grandpa orchestrated the meal and seating arrangements.  It's amazing on what he will do when I BE STILL.  God is so good and I am so thankful.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

MEASURE

Thursday, November 25, 2010

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

It was so nice to have Tim, Kathy, Kasey, Jared and Tori here for Thanksgiving.  Kathy made the most delicious sweet potato casserole.  She left some for tomorrow's dinner that we will share with the Belden and Randby families.  Looking forward to seeing all of them.
Tim started the traditional question of what we are thankful for.  We all shared something that we were thankful for but I think Kathy's got interrupted and we never did get to here all she was thankful for. All I can say is Grandpa is still the Patriarch of this family and when he speaks we all listen.  In consideration of him I will say he just wanted to know if anyone wanted more dressing.  Kathy you were just to cute on your response. :)))
I thank everyone for all the help I had in the kitchen.  On a MEASURE of one to ten you guys get an eleven.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The true MEASURE of loving God is to love Him without MEASURE.

BLESSINGS

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

The night before Thanksgiving and all through the house,
not a person is working, only looking for a gravy bowl right now.
Dressing is made awaiting it's time
to be stuffed in a turkey to finish this rhyme.
Whoa there Grandma your ahead of yourself
That's not till tomorrow when morning I arise
Hoping by then I'll open my eyes
and to my wondering surprise
maybe Grandpa will do it before I arise
Not a chance that will happen
but I count my BLESSINGS
because I am loved.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Count your blessings;
see what God has done.

THANKSGIVING

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

This evening I went to a community THANKSGIVING service at St. Michael's church in Windham.  It was pretty somber since this was the last service for the Priest at St. Michael's.  He was being transferred to another Parish and the Priest at the Catholic church in Garrettsville will commute back and forth and have Masses at both Parishes.
It's sad but yet we have so much to be thankful for everyday.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
THANKSGIVING  was never meant to be limited to a single day.

GRATITUDE

Monday, November 22, 2010
Our big event today was cleaning the bugs from our dining room light.  It's easier when two people do it so I asked Grandpa to help.  He thought about it for awhile and then decided it would be easier to do it then to have me remind him.  Sooooo, we got our light cleaned.  To show my GRATITUDE I gave Grandpa a back rub.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

ILL

Sunday, November 21, 2010

It was very cold this morning when I left for church.  I believe it was in the low 30s.  I had an outer sweater on for warmth but Grandpa said "wear your leather coat".  It was a lot easier just to say ok and put on my leather coat.  Our church service was over a little after noon and then I stayed to help count the offerings.  It was around 1 o'clock when I left the church.  There was warm sunshine that felt so good as I went to my car.  Got home and the first thing Grandpa said was "Did you forget your leather coat?". Yep! I did.  Won't need it tomorrow because the weather man said it will be 70 degrees.  Grandpa was looking out for my welfare so I wouldn't be ILL and it wasn't his fault I forgot my coat so I can't speak ILL of him.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Speak ILL of no one, speak all the good known of everyone.

Something is very wrong with me.  I need help!  I feel like cleaning.  I started to wipe the cupboards and countertops and loved the smell of Murphy Oil.  I started to organizes my desk top in the kitchen.  We went shopping this morning at Marc's in Ravenna so I should be tired and not wanting to do anything.  Kyle,  You are the one studying to be a doctor.  What's wrong with Grandma.  I'm just to happy, energetic, well fed, good sleeping habits and can't wait till Thanksgiving.  There must be something wrong with me.  Thank you for reading this email I really needed someone to TALK to.

I DECLARE

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I DECLARE:  We have two high school athletes who should be very proud of their accomplishments this Fall.

I talked with Michael on FB and asked if I could share his thoughts on his cross country sport and he said "sure"
I asked if he received an award or recognition at his sport banquet.
He said he came close 2 years in lettering but this year he got the "pity letter" ha ha. (Belden humor)
Grandpa said "he was proud Michael stuck it out for all 4 years.
Michael said: That's what I enjoy...I made a lot of good memories running cross.
Proud of you Michael.

Tori we want to say Kudo's to you on your first year playing field hockey and all your accomplishments. :)  Glad you had fun and deserving of the recognition you received at your sport banquet.
Proud of you Tori.

I want to mention Kiersten had done very well with her band concerts and competitions this Fall.  Kiersten plays the clarinet.  They are now getting ready for their Christmas concerts.
Good job Kiersten.

THE RAINCOAT

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Boy! Do I have a story for you tonight.  A lady from our church husband passed away unexpectedly over the weekend.  The calling hours were this evening and I wanted to be there to support her.  Welllll!  It was raining outside pretty hard so I went to the closet to get my raincoat which I haven't worn for some time.  It had DUST around the collar and the synthetic water repellent fabric kind of crinkled.  I asked Grandpa what he thought it looked like and he said "pretty good".  Ok, I'll wear it.  I'm at the funeral home standing in a long line and finally got to the front where the family was.  I looked down at my hands and they were completely speckled with black flakes.  I tried to brush them off before anyone seen them but nope they wouldn't budge.  I hugged my friend and hoped nobody saw my hands and then I had to shake her two sons hands and I just kept talking so they wouldn't look down at my hands.  I came home and showed Grandpa and my old raincoat is in the garbage bag never to be seen again.  I had to scrub my hands several times to get the black speckles off.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The devil is not afraid of the Bible that has DUST on it.

GIFTS

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Three of my friends took me out on the Christmas Walk we have here in Garrettsville every other year.  It was a beautiful day to walk with Spring like weather.  Went to 5 different homes that were decorated in different themes.  We went into a couple of stores in town and had lunch at the Methodist Church.  After we completed the tour the girls wanted to give me my birthday GIFTS so we went to The Mill and had an appetizer and yes, Grandma had a glass of wine.  I can't deny it because it is very efferent in the picture.  It was a wonderful day.

On a sad note we were informed today of the passing of Ray Sheehan yesterday afternoon.  I don't believe they are going to have a memorial service until Spring when all their family could be there.  That's another friend Grandpa would stop to see and catch up on the town gossip.  He will be missed.

THE BEST

Friday, November 12, 2010

I had the BEST day today.  It started out with Kathy taking Grandpa and I out for brunch at Bob Evans.  New item on the menu was meant just for me and that was a cup of oatmeal along with a crepe filled with low fat yogurt topped with bananas, cranberries, blueberries and pecans.  It was the BEST.  Thank you for the birthday brunch.
Grandpa brought the mail in and I had a birthday card from Steve and Tracy.  Thank you for the personal note you wrote inside. It was the BEST.
Went swimming and came home and their was a pink box on our front porch and a card.  I brought it in and as you can see in the picture there were 12 Heavenly cup cakes inside.  Grandpa and I dove into them and froze some for another day.  Thank you Beth Shale! They were the BEST.

MAN

November 11, 2010

Time to remember those men and women who are serving in the armed forces.  I would like to thank one MAN in particular, Aaron, for his enlistment into the Army Reserves.

Today I went to one of my classmate's mothers calling hours.  I went with my friend Becky and it had been 51 years for her and 52 years for me since we have seen him.  Becky and I were signing the book and saying I wonder if we will recognize him.  Todd Kline was standing right behind us and we didn't know it.  So glad we didn't make other comments.  It was nice because there were other classmates who were able to come and give support during this time.  I know Todd appreciated seeing friends and classmates.  We were able to get his current address and phone number to stay in contact with him.

KINDNESS

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Went to bible study this morning and met with some dear friends for prayer.  It's amazing how God answers prayer.  Before we left at noon our prayers were answered.  It is so special to have someone to pray with and for.  The KINDNESS my friends show toward me is indescribable.

Quilters

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Had A wonderful day today because 3 of my friends who are quilters came this morning for us to continue the work on A quilt for the Windham Historical Society.  It's not a big quilt but I think it will be very interesting with photo's from long ago.  We went to the quilt shop here in town and they donated all the fabric to make the quilt.  We are planning to meet in December to do the actual cutting and sewing of the quilt.  We do have till July to complete it.

CHEERFUL GREETING

Sunday, November 7, 2010

I guess the most exciting thing that happened at our house was seeing Grandpa getting excited over the Brown's Game today.  I was gone this afternoon and came home just as the game was over.  Grandpa met me at the door with the good news and better yet Grandpa said he had an optimistic attitude about them winning.  It was good to see Grandpa CHEERFUL and GREETING me with a fresh pot of coffee all brewed.

PIZZA TONIGHT

Friday, November 5, 2010

Had a nice surprise today.  John called and said he and Michael wanted to take us out for dinner tonight.   After thinking what restaurant to eat at, Grandpa and I decided it would be fun for a pizza night here at home. John and Michael picked up the pizza from Cal's and it was Deeelicious.  Debbie is in Harrisburg this weekend so John and Michael were planning to come here then go see Garrettsville's team in the playoffs at Chagrin Falls tonight.  Tomorrow down to Columbus to watch the state track meet and Sunday morning to the cabin and then on to see the Browns play.  WHEW!!!!!  They are going to PAVE the road with a lot of tread this weekend.

ENTHUSIASM MINDS

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Today I took my 91 year old friend, Kathryn, out to lunch for her birthday.  Her birthday was in August and she had so many lunch dates for her gifts that I was on the end of the waiting list.  We finished lunch and went to visit her 94 year old friend, Marie Dutter, who is now in a nursing home.  What a hoot hearing their stories from younger days.   These two ladies had so much ENTHUSIASM remembering their days of playing sports.  One was a basketball player and the other a baseball player.  In their MINDS they were as active as they were in their teens.  When it was time to leave we had prayer and Marie slowly closed her eyes to rest.  My heart is overwhelmed knowing her days on earth are short.
